At Embedded World 2025, e-peas CEO and co-founder Geoffroy Gosset had an interview with Kyran from Wevolver to share his expertise and vision for the future of energy harvesting PMICs. The conversation covered everything from product innovations to partnerships and future trends in autonomous electronics.

Powering the Future with Energy Harvesting PMICs

Geoffroy introduced e-peas as a semiconductor company focused exclusively on energy harvesting PMICs (Power Management Integrated Circuits). Since its inception, e-peas has aimed to eliminate the need for primary, non-rechargeable batteries by delivering cutting-edge solutions that collect and manage energy from ambient sources like light, RF, heat, and motion.

“Using disposable batteries is not only inefficient and costly, but also harmful to the environment. Our mission from day one has been to replace them with energy-autonomous solutions,” says Geoffroy Gosset.

Real-World Applications: From Remote Controls to Solar Keyboards

During the interview, Geoffroy showcased successful applications of e-peas’ PMICs, including:

  • Battery-free remote controls

  • Solar-powered bluetooth keyboards

These products, powered by ambient light and optimized by e-peas’ PMICs, eliminate the need for cables, charging, or battery swaps – a game-changer in user convenience and sustainability.

Building an Ecosystem Through Strategic Partnerships

e-peas is not working alone. The company has built an extensive network of partners, including:

  • Photovoltaic cell manufacturers

  • Wireless IC makers like Qorvo and Silicon Labs

With Qorvo, e-peas developed a reference design that combines low-power Bluetooth with energy harvesting  enabling truly autonomous Matter-based smart devices. Similarly, their collaboration with Silicon Labs includes energy harvesting shields compatible with new wireless boards supporting Bluetooth and Zigbee, ideal for smart home and smart building solutions.

“The key to pushing a new technology is to speak with a unified voice,” notes Geoffroy. “Our collaborations help validate and accelerate adoption across the industry.”

Smart Homes & Smart Buildings: The Growing Demand

According to Geoffroy Gosset, the smart home and smart building sectors are prime markets for energy harvesting PMICs. With the rising number of devices like door sensors, smoke detectors, and thermostats, maintaining and replacing batteries at scale becomes a major logistical burden both for consumers and building operators.

“Imagine managing dozens or hundreds of sensors in multiple buildings. Swapping batteries becomes a real operational cost. Our technology solves that,” he explains.

Innovation in Action: The AEM3920 PMIC

e-peas’ latest release, the AEM3920, is a dual-source energy harvesting PMIC capable of collecting power from two different sources such as indoor and outdoor PV cells, or a combination of light and thermal energy. This flexibility ensures reliability in real-world conditions, making it ideal for devices like thermostatic valves or industrial sensors.

“With the AEM13920, we combine energy from heat and light to make systems more resilient and long-lasting,” Geoffroy notes.

What’s Next: Scaling Up to 3W

Looking ahead, e-peas is preparing to release a new PMIC capable of extracting up to 3 watts expanding their reach into applications that require more power while maintaining energy autonomy.

“Expect more innovation from us. We’re growing our portfolio to meet the rising demand for higher-power energy harvesting systems,” he says.

Final Thoughts

At Embedded World 2025, it was clear that e-peas is leading the way in energy harvesting PMICs not only through groundbreaking technology but also by fostering an ecosystem of partners committed to sustainable innovation.

Whether you’re building smart devices, managing large sensor deployments, or designing next-generation IoT systems, energy harvesting PMICs from e-peas offer the flexibility, efficiency, and performance needed to go battery-free.
