We are glad to introduce a new evaluation kit for solar energy harvesting, developed in partnership with Dracula Technologies. This kit includes an evaluation board featuring e-peas’ AEM10941 and Dracula Technologies’ organic photovoltaic (OPV) technology, LAYER®, created via inkjet printing. This kit is designed to help you easily and quickly test your concept of shifting a device to solar energy harvesting.

About Dracula Technologies’ OPV

Dracula Technologies’ OPV technology harvests ambient light (natural or artificial) to power low-consumption indoor devices. It is adaptable and customizable, offering free shape design and on-demand electric features. Being a green technology, it does not use rare earths or heavy metals such as lead; instead, it primarily relies on carbon-based materials. This technology boasts a short energy payback time of 0.35 years and a low carbon footprint of 10.7 g CO2-eq/kWh. Additionally, its low total cost of ownership (TCO) results from significantly reduced maintenance costs.

One of the standout features of LAYER® technology is its innovative manufacturing process. By using bio-based conductive inks, specifically carbon-based materials, and employing inkjet printing, we significantly reduce material usage (1g of material to produce 1 square meter of surface). Our goal is to extend the lifespan of connected objects to over 10 years while minimizing their environmental impact. Continuous development efforts aim to further reduce the environmental impact of LAYER® technology.

 
 

Key Features of the LAYER® Demokit#6

The LAYER® Demokit#6 is an Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) module designed to power low-energy consumption electronic components in low-light environments. Key features include:

  • Power Output: Consists of 6 cells in series, delivering approximately 570µW at 3V under 1000 lux.
  • Design: Light, thin, flexible, and highly resistant to impact due to its flexible substrate.
  • Ease of Integration: Comes with soldered cable wires for easy integration and testing.
