In a recent collaboration between e-peas and TCT, a fully functional energy harvesting setup was demonstrated—highlighting the real-world application of energy harvesting PMICs in industrial environments.

Magnetic Core as an Energy Harvester: How It Works

The demonstration features a compact TCT current generator that captures energy from an AC electrical cable via inductive coupling. This non-invasive method enables safe and efficient energy collection without interfering with the electrical circuit.

At the core of the system is the e-peas AEM30940, a highly efficient energy harvesting PMIC designed to convert the harvested AC energy into stable DC power. Paired with a rectifier circuit, the AEM30940 supplies energy to multiple low-power components, including:

  • Humidity sensors

  • Temperature sensor

  • Light sensors

  • A wireless transceiver

This solution demonstrates a scalable, real-world application for powering distributed sensors in smart buildings, industrial automation, and grid monitoring – without the need for batteries or wired power.
