Meet e-peas at IBC 2025 – Energy Harvesting PMICs for Entertainment Devices

e-peas-IBC-energy-harvesting-25

Energy harvesting PMIC technology is reshaping how entertainment devices are powered. Instead of swapping disposable batteries or running wires, devices can capture ambient energy (light, RF, motion, thermal) and run reliably without plugs and with far less maintenance.

We’ll show it live at IBC – International Broadcasting Convention, Amsterdam, September 13–15, 2025. If you’re building remotes or other entertainment gear, come talk to us about making “battery changes” a thing of the past.

Meet the e-peas team on site (book a slot: sales@e-peas.com):
• Geoffroy Gosset – CEO & Co-founder
• Dan Harper – Senior Vice President of World Wide Sales
• Karl Audaert – VP Sales & Business Development, APAC

What is an energy harvesting PMIC?

An energy harvesting PMIC (power-management IC) sits between a small energy source (e.g., indoor solar cell) and your device. It:

  • captures and conditions tiny amounts of energy efficiently,

  • stores that energy safely (supercap or rechargeable cell), and

  • provides a stable voltage rail for your electronics.

In short, it turns ambient energy into dependable power your product can trust.

Why the entertainment sector is switching

1) Energy autonomous remotes = better User Experience

Remote controls are used daily and often batteries die. With an energy-harvesting PMIC, remotes recharge from room light, keeping latency low and availability high – no user friction, no “low battery” moments.

2) Lower operating cost

Eliminating routine battery swaps across millions of units saves time, logistics, and budget. Fewer returns and support tickets, too.

3) Sustainable by design

Fewer disposable batteries means less waste. An energy harvesting PMIC makes eco-friendly design a practical business choice, not just a slogan.

Typical applications we help power

  • Remote controls for TVs, soundbars, set-top boxes, streaming devices, gaming/AV systems

  • Companion controllers and wireless accessories (volume, lighting, scene control)

  • Smart sensors (presence, ambient light, temperature, air quality)

  • Demo/retail controllers that must work all day, every day, without charging cables

If your product spends its life in living rooms, studios, venues, stores, or hospitality spaces – energy-harvesting PMICs can make it plug-free and maintenance-light.

Design notes (what engineering teams ask first)

  • Indoor-light readiness: e-peas AEM family is tuned for low-lux operation with smart harvesting algorithms (e.g., Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)), so devices start up and keep working under typical indoor lighting.

  • Stable system rail: the PMIC regulates power to a clean, selectable voltage for your MCU, sensors, and RF.

  • Storage choice: supercapacitors or small rechargeable cells both work; our team can help you size storage for your duty cycle.

  • Telemetry & control: I²C control and energy monitoring simplify power budgeting and field tuning.

  • 5 V fast charge: the PMIC enables fast storage element charging from a 5 V input to quickly recover readiness after idle periods.

See it at IBC – and leave with a plan

Bring your device or a concept sketch. We’ll map harvester size, storage, PMIC configuration, and expected performance so you leave with a clear pathway from prototype to production.

FAQ: Energy Harvesting PMIC (quick answers)

Will it work under indoor light?
Yes. Properly sized indoor PV plus a tuned energy harvesting PMIC delivers enough power for typical remote-control duty cycles and many sensors.

Do I still need a battery?
Often a supercapacitor is sufficient; in some designs a small rechargeable cell provides extra margin. We’ll size it based on your usage profile.

What changes in my product?
Usually the battery compartment shrinks and you add a small harvester. The PMIC replaces or augments your existing power path and provides a regulated rail.

If you care about user experience, sustainability, and cost – energy harvesting PMICs unlock all three. See you in Amsterdam.
